Don’t underestimate my political clout, it will bring down ‘Babri power structure’ in Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis

Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday warned Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray not to underestimate his political clout, adding that he would soon tear down the ‘Babri power structure’ in the state .

At a public rally held in Goregaon, Fadnavis launched a virulent attack on the MVA government and in particular on Thackeray, in what appeared to be a response to provocations by the chief minister at the BKC rally on Saturday.

Fadnavis said, “Uddhavji made fun of my kar seva and my role in demolishing Babri structure. He ridiculed me for being a heavyweight. And said if I stepped on Babri Mosque it would automatically come down.

“I would like to thank Thackeray for showing such confidence in me,” Fadnavis added sarcastically.

He added: “Yes, when I participated in the Ayodhya movement, I was already the youngest corporator elected at 21 years old. I weighed 128 kg. And now I am 102 kg. I would like to warn Thackeray. “Do not underestimate my political weight. I assure you that I will bring down the Babri power structure in Maharashtra.

The former chief minister said: “Thackeray is perhaps the only CM in the country who thinks the Prime Minister’s meetings are for entertainment. So it’s no surprise that Uddhav Thackeray is leading the government of Condition as IPL.Lounge in power for fun and entertainment.

“In the last two and a half years, when more than a million and a half people died from Covid, farmers were reeling from the financial crisis and committing suicide, migrants were driven out of cities and left starving , Thackeray was lounging in the comfort of his lavish home, and he may be the only CM who hasn’t left his house in the past two years.

Against the Shiv Sena’s accusation that the BJP was trying to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra, Fadnavis said, “This is a bogus campaign against the BJP and the Centre. Mumbai was, is and will remain an integral part of Maharashtra.

“We are talking about the transformation of Mumbai by dislodging the corrupt ruler of Shiv Sena in the BMC. We want to bring relief to the Mumbaikars who have been ruthlessly plundered by the Shiv Sena over the past few years,” he added.

During his rally, Fadnavis compared the Hindutva of Bal Thackeray to the Hindutva of Uddhav Thackeray.

“Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray never compromised on Hindutva. Whereas Uddhav Thackeray has compromised Hindutva to retain the seat of power,” he said.

“Independent MP Ravi Rana and his MP wife Navneet Rana have been arrested on sedition charges for singing Hanuman Chalisa and locked up in jails. But when AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi paid his respects at Aurangazeb’s grave, Uddhav Thackeray showed no courage to arrest him on sedition charges. Earlier, Usmani Shergil held a public rally and spoke out against the country… The Thackeray government remained a silent spectator,” Fadnavis said.

The opposition leader added, “I have often said that the BJP-NCP alliance was a mistake. But even if the alliance had worked, I would have guaranteed that there was no possibility of welcoming an associate of Dawood Ibrahim. Instead, I would have preferred to stay out of power.

“Thackeray compromised and retained Nawab Malik even after learning of his agreements and association with Dawood Ibrahim’s associates. Thackeray compromised Hindutva to please Congress and his high command Sonia Gandhi not to withdraw their support for the three-party coalition,” Fadnavis said.
