New committee to study the structure of the city | News, Sports, Jobs
ELKINS — A new temporary committee of Elkins Town Council will review the town’s organizational structure and recommend changes, as Mayor Jerry Marco ordered last month.
The ad hoc Organizational Audit Committee will be led by Second Ward Councilor Charlie Friddle and consists of Second Ward Councilor Mike Hinchman, Fifth Ward Councilor Dave Parker, Fifth Ward Councilor Linda Vest and Marco.
In his note ordering the creation of this committee, the mayor specifies that the idea came “following the discussions and findings made by the previous ad hoc special hiring committee.”
The mayor continues: “I believe that particular attention should be given to reviewing and, if necessary, recommending changes to the way our organization is structured to support employees and provide the highest quality service to our constituents. “
The special ad hoc hiring committee was formed last fall to recruit a new director of operations. Before finalizing the job description and announcing the opening, however, this committee, also led by Friddle, studied the structure of the city’s operations department and recommended certain changes to the board, including the transfer of responsibility administration of all personnel and water and sewer operations at the Elkins Water Board and the Elkins Sanitary Authority.
From now on, the new ad hoc organizational audit committee will perform a similar analysis of other municipal services. The committee, which begins its work this month, will meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.
