The Vicksburg Art Association Members’ Exhibit opens Saturday

The Vicksburg Art Association will host a Members’ Exhibit that will feature original artwork by old and new members of the Vicksburg art community.

The Vicksburg Art Association, which was established in 1963, will host this event from April 23 through April 27. The exhibition will take place in the historic Old Constitution Firehouse, located at 1204 Main Street, which serves as the headquarters of the Association. At 7 p.m., Saturday, the gallery will be open to the public. Those wishing to purchase art will have early access to the work and can attend the exhibition starting at 6 p.m.

The follow-upthe schedules will also be available for public viewing:

  • Sunday, April 24: 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Monday, April 25: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday April 26: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 27: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

The gallery will feature a maximum of three works of art submitted by members of the Association and will include a variety of unique pieces. The work will be judged for best in show by Ron Lindsey, who will award three artists with ribbons for first, second and third place cash prizes. Lindsey will also award ribbons to honorable mentions in each category. Additionally, there will be first, second and third place ribbons awarded to three artists by public choice, which will be decided by the guests who attend the viewing on April 23. The artists involved were also allowed to participate in a fourth special “miniatures”. category piece, which is eligible to win a separate award as well as a People’s Choice award.

Categories include acrylic, oil, watercolour, three-dimensional, photo:monochrome, photo:colour, drawing, fiber, mixed media, graphic design, printmaking, digital imaging and crafts.
